€71 from €60 per person per night, 3-night minimum

Sunset yoga on the rooftop deck, TaghazoutRooftop deck, end of the surf day

Where the yoga happens

On the rooftop deck of the house, which faces the Atlantic. Sessions run at the end of the surf day, as the sun goes down, so you finish in the last of the light with the point break below you. That is the whole reason we practise in the evening rather than at the start of the day.

Yoga mats are provided and live up there, so you don't need to travel with one. Join every session or just a couple in the week: the price is the same either way.

Marie, ISA-certified coach, who teaches the rooftop yogaMarie, coach

Your teacher

Marie, one of our ISA-certified surf coaches, teaches the yoga. She also runs the beginner surf lessons, so the evening session is built around what she has just watched your body struggle with in the water rather than a generic sequence.

It is a slow, surfer-focused practice, taught for surfers rather than for experienced yogis, and every posture comes with a simpler variation. Ten years ago she was a nervous first-timer too. Read more about the people who run the house, or see the rooftop deck and the rooms.

A day at the retreat.

The surf decides the shape of the day. The yoga is the fixed point at the end of it.

06:00

Swell check and breakfast

The coaches read the swell chart over coffee and pick the break that suits the day and your level. Then breakfast at the house.

Morning

Morning surf

A coached session in groups of six at whichever break the morning points to; the break guide covers every spot we use and why. Board and wetsuit are included.

Midday

Lunch and free time

Back to the house to eat. Taghazout is small enough to walk end to end in twenty minutes, and the deck is a reasonable place to do nothing.

Later

Second surf, for those who want it

An optional second session for anyone with paddling left in their arms. Nobody minds if you sit it out.

Sunset

Yoga on the roof, then dinner

A slow, surfer-focused practice on the rooftop deck as the sun goes down, undoing the day's paddling. Dinner together after dark.

What this is

Why yoga, and why it is
not optional-priced.

Plenty of surf and yoga retreats in Morocco are yoga retreats that happen to be near the sea. This one runs the other way round. You are here to surf: coached sessions matched to the swell and your level, at whichever break suits the morning. The yoga exists because a week of that is genuinely hard on a body that spends the rest of the year at a desk.

Paddling is a repetitive shoulder movement performed lying face down with the neck extended. Six days of it tightens the chest, shortens the hip flexors and leaves the thoracic spine stiff. Sessions are built around undoing exactly that, which is the difference between still catching waves on day five and sitting on the beach with a sore back.

Nothing is compulsory. Some guests do every session, some do two in the week, and the price is the same either way: yoga is built into every package rather than sold by the class.

All three include
daily yoga.

What changes between them is the room and who you are travelling with. The coaching, the yoga and the food are the same in all three.

Solo, For Two or Group & Family for six or more guests: every package is full board, includes board and wetsuit hire and return transfers from Agadir airport (AGA), and runs for any stay from 3 nights. Booking is online by card and confirmed instantly. Prices, rooms and the full list of inclusions live on the packages page.

Yoga questions,
answered plainly.

Included in every package at no extra cost. There is no yoga add-on to buy and no per-class fee.

No. Sessions are taught for surfers rather than for experienced yogis, and most guests arrive having never held a mat pose. Every posture is offered with a simpler variation.

You can. The week is built around surfing, but nothing is compulsory. Some guests sit out a session and use the rooftop deck instead, and the price doesn't change either way.

No. Yoga mats are provided and kept on the rooftop deck. Message us if you'd rather practise on your own mat and we'll make space for it.

One every day, at the end of the surf day. Nobody counts: you join the sessions you want and skip the ones you don't, and the price is the same.

A surf camp with daily yoga built in. The days are organised around the swell and the coaching, and the yoga is there to undo the paddling. If you want six hours of yoga a day, this is not it.

October to April for the most consistent swell, though the water stays between 17.5°C and 21°C all year and we run every week. See the full FAQ for seasons, flights and what to pack.
